Another week gone by, time for a new featured artist of the week...and this time is someone who dedicated her works for human best friends - PETs (I should say dog in particular). A while ago, I already wrote abit about her work in this BLOG....but that time, is only something from my side...today, I've got something from her side......
We have something in common...we have big dogs...I have one, she has 2...one of our dogs are still a far cousins LOL...a golden vs a lab. Mine is called Pataud hers is called Chubby...cute names aren't they?
Gotta be serious....ok..here you go.....this is the famous Chubby
And these are some of my favorite things from her store........
Now, this is what she says about herself
Where do you get your inspiration?
For my pet beds, I get my inspiration from my dogs. I watch how they sleep and like to lounge and try to come up with designs which will make them comfy.
What sets you apart from your competition?
I put a lot of care into the design of my beds. I really work hard to give my customers, dogs and cats, the best bed suited for each of them.
What medium do you work in the most?
Fabric. I walk into a fabric store and lose myself. I go to this place where I'm constantly imagining different colors and fabrics together.
What piece of yours is your favorite right now?
I guess my Baby Blue Jeans' Bed is my favorite because it was orginally made for my Lab, Trubby. He is arthritic now and needs a lot of support when he sleeps. I'm proud of the design and by how much he loves it!
Who is the artist who inspires you the most?
Tasha Tudor, the children's illustrator, has long been an inspiration to me. I admire how she's lived her life on her own terms, according to what works best for her artistically.
Where is home base for you?
Our little house on Stone Road in the semi-rural Ohio town where I was born and raised. My studio looks out on our lake and woods. I'm constantly looking out the big windows as I sew, looking at the kids, my husband, our dogs, and deer.
What do you do to get over creative block or to take a break from creating?
When I hit a block, it's usually a sign I'm working too hard. I've found that by giving myself a break, I tend to bounce back rather quickly. I have to step away from the sewing machine. I also need to add a little variety here and there. I've been making some little girl dresses for my other shop www.CallawayLee.etsy.com. which is another way of recharging for me. I find the challenge of trying new things motivates me.
Do you work outside of the home/studio, and if you do, what is your day job?
I'm a Mom by day, and night, and a pet bed business owner by whenever I can fit it in.
Do you sell wholesale?
I'm just starting to venture into wholesale. I need to be certain I can keep up with wholesale orders before I commit. I guess my business is going through a growing spurt and I've been considering different ways of delegating different facets of the business. Honestly, I never thought I'd make it this far, so it all feels a bit surreal.
Do you have a website or blog in addition to your etsy shop?
I have a blog at chubbytrubby.blogspot.com.
Anything else you want people to know?
I am truly happy trying to come up with a bed suitable for each individual pet. Don't be afraid to ask for something specific. I know my lab likes to rest his head on a pillow when he sleeps, thus I invented a bed with double bolsters.
